20 Things

This goes like this... 20 things about me... random facts, things I love/hate etc... if you like, re-blog (only about you), and let me know.
  1. I can touch my nose with my tongue
  2. I love photography, both sides of the camera. I drive my friends crazy taking photos, but they always love the results, people, places, random things.
  3. My favorite colour is RED although I'm really loving Yellow & Orange at the moment.
  4. I love films, bit of a film buff... cannot possibly choose a favorite and would probably take me all day to even narrow it down to a top 10... but I love a film that makes me laugh, cry, jump or think about it for days after.
  5. My favorite food is Sushi, I would eat it every day if I could.
  6. I love shoes. Show me a girl who doesn't. I generally dress from the feet up... pick the shoes and then the outfit.
  7. I'd love to live by the sea, preferably somewhere warm & sunny, sometimes I convince myself I have SAD (Seasonal Affective Disorder) I am definitely solar powered.
  8. I like exercise and being outdoors. Running, swimming, exploring... fresh air... lovely!
  9. I'd love to make a proper living from painting, I do at times but like writers I get painters block, maybe I need a muse?
  10. I have a habit of numbering points in conversation when trying to explain things to people... 1) Because it helps give structure to what I'm trying to say, 2) For conversational organisation and... 3) Naaah not really, it's all rubbish, dunno why I do it.
  11. I talk A LOT... but love it when I'm so comfortable with someone that I can just sit in silence (usually day dreaming) and not feel awkward.
  12. I went to the Oscars in 2006... unfortunatly not as a Nominee. Although when I left school I wanted to be an actress. I was an extra for a while and had a few *cringe* bit parts including a stint in Familiy Affairs as a nurse called Bianca, my character got put in prison in the end haha!
  13. I don't like touching cotton wool, it makes me cringe... apparently it's called Bambakophobia
  14. My home is my castle... well more like cottage... I love interior design & architecture, I bought this little ramshackle bungalow and redesigned it, pretty much knocked it down and rebuilt it, now it's my perfect little nest. I did get the wonderful opportunity to design my "Dream house" and it's been built and yes it's amazing, but my ex lives there now, c'est la vie... the next one will be even better!
  15. What you see is what you get with me. I once dated a psychologist who was determined to prove otherwise, "everyone puts on a front"... nope not really, no games, no bullshit, no act... just me!
  16. My alcoholic drink of choice is Vodka & Cranberry, although I'm a total light weight... and get the worst hangovers!
  17. I have really small hands and feet.
  18. I play the Piano and the Ukulele... Love music but I'm not good at singing!
  19. My first pet was a rabbit called Peter... so when I do the whole "Figure out your Pornstar name" game (First Pet + Street you were born on)... Mine is Peter West... haha sexy! Not! LOL
  20. My favorite quote is: "Unless it is mad, passionate, extraordinary love, it's a waste of time. There are too many mediocre things in life - Love should not be one of them"
So... this is my list, my 20 things... go re-blog my lovelies and tell me 20 things about you xxx

Rainy Days

There should be actual rules on umbrella etiquette... seriously I have been poked and soaked too many times by people who don't look where they're going! Perhaps this would solve the problem... (and it's looks pretty cool)

And on a more positive note, why not...

Green Fingers

I have been gardening most of today... despite my distinct lack of green fingers I have inherited 80 lavender plants which I am determined to plant so my garden smells delicious on summer nights... I think I'm about 50% done and absolutely exhausted!

Hair Raising Art

I'm a huge fan of Yasemen Hussein and her amazing sculptures. She has created wearable art/costumes for Victoria Secrets, Katy Perry and Lady Gaga... But these metallic hair sculptures are my favorite. See more of her work here www.yasemenhussein.com

Self Contained

I'd love one of these as a studio or hang out... somewhere with a nice view or even just my back garden! Unconventionally cool...

Clutch Me Up Alexander McQueen

I sooo need an Alexander McQueen box clutch... they are gorgeously cute!

I got Love for Massimo

I had the absolute pleasure of visiting Massimo last weekend. Located in London's luxury Corinthia Hotel it was love at first bite at this new specialty fish restaurant and oyster bar. Although unfortunately it was somewhat of a fleeting visit I was lucky enough to meet the extremely charismatic and talented Chef Patron Massimo Riccioli. He shared a quick drink with us before sending out some fantastic delights from the oyster bar. If it weren't for my rather clingy dress I would have taken him up on his offer of dinner as the food looked fabulous! As always I was also eyeing up the interior design, a beautifully fused mix of traditional English grandeur softened with classic Italian style by the distinguished hands of David Collins. I am eagerly anticipating my next visit!

Playboy Vs Feminists

So I'm getting a bit of stick for attending the "Grand Opening" of Playboy Club London... and while it's just as easy to stereotype the female protesters as sexually frustrated, man hating, feminists as it is to brand the Bunny Girls as exploited, degraded sex objects... I think realistically neither is true.

OK so facts are... It's a casino not a strip club (not that I have anything against strip clubs) the Bunny girls are probably wearing more than most podium dancers in regular clubs and regardless of Playboys status in the porn industry the club was anything but smutty.

My personal view... How people can say Playmates are exploited is ridiculous. No-one is making these girls to take their clothes off, it's not like Hugh Hefner is kidnapping them and forcing them into the adult entertainment industry. Surely feminism should respect freedom of choice? If these girls want to use their sexuality to forge a career then why shouldn't they. If anything surely the men are being exploited... they're generally the ones financing it. Many female role models in business and entertainment use their sexuality as a sign of power... Look at Rihanna, Katy Perry, Beyonce, Lady Gaga... they're all overtly sexually provocative in their music videos/performances...  And on the other side of the market... Jacqueline Gold 16th richest woman in Britain and Chief Executive of Ann Summers. Let's face it ladies & gents... sex sells and women are as much in power of that industry as men are, it's business and in the case of the Playboy Club a bit of fun... not exploitation.

On another note... regardless of the picket line of protesters outside, once inside the evening was fabulous!

The Burning House

I stumbled across this fab blog The Burning House and decided to submit an entry... If your house was burning, what would you take with you? It's a conflict between what's practical, valuable and sentimental. What you would take reflects your interests, background and priorities. Think of it as an interview condensed into one question...

I'm assuming my Daughter, her bunny & fish go without saying (also would probably take days to try and coordinate a photograph with them included). My iPhone was used to take the picture, but that would definitely make the "save list"... So in the short amount of time I had to rummage round and collect things this is what I came up with...

List
  • My external Hard drive containing all my music & photos (very important)
  • 2 pairs of sunglasses, 1 Rayban & 1 Gucci... I'm not taking makeup so may wish to disguise somewhat especially as I'm guessing I will have been crying a little if my house burnt down!
  • Chanel purse with cards/cash etc inside
  • iPod Nano
  • SLR camera
  • Car keys
  • Laptop
  • Passport
  • Russian Dolls... bit random but god damn it my house is burning down...
  • My beloved Ukulele
  • 2 ornaments I picked up in Thailand, 3 wise monkeys (see no evil, hear no evil, speak no evil) and a little Buddha.
  • My geek glasses (so I can see)
  • Cartier watch
  • Diamond cross
  • Gold Pandora bracelet
  • Turquoise beaded charm bracelet
  • Panasonic Lumix camera
  • Mulberry Bayswater bag
  • LV holdall (I'll need somthing to put it all in)
  • And already snuck into the holdall is my nearly finished cross stitch which has been a long but rewarding work in progress.
